Auctioneer’s Note: The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has a lien on the property securing a civil penalty assessed against the former owner for hazardous and solid waste violations at the property. The Town worked with NHDES for many years in addressing the property conditions. A Groundwater Monitoring Permit (“GMP”) issued on Feb. 16, 2023, to the Town, as the permittee, contains requirements for periodically collecting and analyzing groundwater samples from the property. Costs incurred for NHDES-required monitoring of groundwater contaminated with methyl tertbutyl ether and other ethers exceeding the Ambient Groundwater Quality Standards are potentially eligible for reimbursement under the Petroleum Reimbursement Fund. Costs incurred for the assessment, remediation and monitoring of other regulated contaminants are not eligible for reimbursement from the Petroleum Reimbursement Fund.
